Interview Q&A
What is your primary product or service?
Dog Training & Behavioral Consulting
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Matthew Tuzzo, owner and head trainer, ultimately started his business to help people and approaches his training methods from that standpoint. After dealing with many trainers while working with his own dogs, he realized that many failed to relate to the owner and work with them in a way that makes them feel comfortable and confident. Matt’s down-to-earth personality helps him relate to his clients on a human, more personal level by approaching the training from the owner’s perspective – empathizing with the owner AND dog… not just the dog.
Matt’s education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in MIS and Finance from Villanova University. He received his ABCDT designation from the Animal Behavior College. Currently, Matt is working to obtain his CPDT-KA and attends local continuing education workshops and seminars. Matt also volunteers as one of several dog trainers at the Woodbridge Animal Shelter in Woodbridge, NJ.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Specializing in positive reward-based dog training in a one-on-one atmosphere, Jersey Shore Dogs is committed to creating the safest environment possible for you and your dog with responsible training and instruction. Our goal is to make sure both owner and dog have a positive, fulfilling experience without the need to use uncomfortable tools (choke chains, prong collars, etc.) and physical methods that will cause your dog pain and/or fear.
Positive reward-based training allows you to develop and maintain a trusting, stronger bond between you and your canine companion. Our owner focused training concentrates on the issues important to each specific owner, rather than providing them with personal judgments and complicated plans for behaviors that are of no concern. Each client will be treated as a unique individual, and all training will be tailored to help that individual meet his/her own goals. Whether you work from home, or are always on the go, Jersey Shore Dogs will make the extra effort to find solutions that are not only specific to your dog’s individual needs, but specific to your individual lifestyle. We make it a point to work around your busy schedule by providing you with convenient and flexible in-home training options.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are based in central NJ, but provide in-home services (so we go to our clients). We hope to open up our own facility and add group classes and other services (dog walking, pet sitting, etc.) in the future.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, Check, Credit Card (MC, Visa, Amex, Discover), and PayPal invoice
Which areas do you service?
